Dr Kavitha Subramaniam

Kavitha Subramaniam (MBBS, MPH, FRACP) is a Staff Specialist in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Canberra Hospital. She is a Clinical Lecturer at the Australian National University Medical School.

She graduated in medicine from the University of Western Australia. She undertook her advanced training in Gastroenterology in Perth, Western Australia leading to a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Her training included time with Prof Paul Pavli at the Canberra Hospital in the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases unit.

She practices all aspects of gastroenterology and performs diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy.  She has a special interest in the management of inflammatory bowel diseases and colorectal cancer screening.

Her current research interests include inflammatory bowel diseases, interval colorectal cancer and management of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. She has published journal articles widely especially on inflammatory bowel diseases and has completed her Masters of Public Health.
